Central Monitoring

Central Monitoring with PlantSys is a state-of-the-art solution designed to consolidate and manage the control and monitoring of multiple industrial facilities from a central location. This service integrates programmable logic controllers (PLCs) with a central monitoring system, ensuring that all process data is securely duplicated to Vision Services Oy’s server environment, where it can be accessed through our reporting service (available as an additional service).

Integration of new facilities

Adding a new facility to the central monitoring system is carried out through a dedicated project. The process begins with a kickoff meeting to gather necessary initial data. The minimum requirements for standard delivery include:

  • The logic must be listed on the automation interface list, or it must be connectable using a listed interface.
  • The automation system must have an Ethernet/Profinet connection.
  • An up-to-date backup of the automation system must be available.

If these requirements are not met, additional time will be billed based on the hours needed to gather the required information. The cost of integrating a new facility into the central monitoring system is always negotiated separately. Adding a new facility to the SaaS service will increase the service fee as per the agreed rate. Additionally, existing SCADA systems from other manufacturers can remain operational locally alongside the web-based central monitoring system.

Integration of existing PlantSys installations

Existing local PlantSys installations can be integrated into the central monitoring system, focusing on control windows and alarms. The process data from the facility will continue to be stored on the local server, with an option to store process data as an additional service in the reporting environment on a separate server. For local server failures, process data can also be stored in the SaaS service, similar to new facility projects. In such cases, the same monthly fee applies as for adding a new facility to the service.

Benefits of Central Monitoring

Enhanced control and efficiency
  • Centralized management: Manage multiple facilities from a single, centralized location, reducing the need for on-site presence and increasing overall efficiency.
  • Real-time data access: Access real-time process data from all integrated facilities, enabling quick decision-making and proactive management.
Improved security and data integrity
  • Secure data duplication: Process data is securely duplicated to our servers, ensuring data integrity and availability. (Additional fee)
  • Encrypted communication: All data transmission is encrypted, safeguarding against unauthorized access and ensuring confidentiality.
Scalability and flexibility
  • Customizable integration projects: Each integration project is tailored to meet the specific needs of the facility, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Support for existing installations: Existing PlantSys installations can be easily integrated, allowing for a phased approach to central monitoring.
Comprehensive reporting
  • Detailed reports: Generate detailed reports on plant performance metrics, including real-time data trends, historical data, and comprehensive production summaries.
  • Additional reporting services: Optional external reporting services provide secure internet access to plant performance data, enhancing visibility and control.
